JCPenney Men's Ties: Classic Patterns at Reasonable Prices for Everyday Wear
When I think of men’s neckwear which is available at the JCPenney department store and online at JCP.com, I think of classic patterns. Interesting geometric designs are also available, all at very reasonable prices. There are some surprises, but for the most part normal width ties which work well in and out of the office and never go out of style are most prevalent.
Classic Patterns
Various standard issue pattern such as solids, stripes, plaids and foulard patterns abound. Designer men's ties include American Living, Izod, J. Ferrar, Joseph Abboud, Liz and Co., Stafford, Steve Harvey, Towncraft, Van Heusen, as well as funky designs by Jerry Garcia and novelty neckties from Hallmark, which last I checked included religious inspirational and seasonal holiday themes. Several tie and matching pocket square sets are also offered.
You can select regular and extra long neckwear depending on your needs. Every color imaginable is there for the choosing. Around 80 to 100 ties are listed online, and many have several colors of a particular pattern.
Reasonable Prices
At least online, original prices range from $25 to $38 dollars, and all neckwear is on sale, starting as low as $9.99. There is absolutely no way you can go wrong at those price points!
Classic Cuts
Most of the men’s ties are normal width, that is, from 3¾ to 4 inches wide, although this fall (2009) I noticed skinny ties under 2 inches wide on sale for the first time. Thin narrow neckties have been a popular trend for at least 3 years and the buyers for the JCPenney company finally decided to mix it up and offer some. This confirms my belief that this retailer is interested in offering timeless neckwear which won’t go out of style soon, if ever! The buyers for the company apparently decided to take a wait and see approach on the trendiness of thin neckwear before offering some to their customers. The designs of the skinny ties they do have for sale are some of the nicest around.
Online, In Store & Catalog Shopping
The brick and mortars offer the widest selection of neckties which you can see up close and personal. You can handle each and every tie to check for the quality of the fabric. Also, you can check for how thick each accessory is. Some people prefer thinner ties to match with their favorite knot.
Online is good, too, for quick shopping, but the selection is more limited. The website isn’t the most user friendly I’ve encountered, but it gets the job done.
As with the website, catalogs also carry a more limited selection. One thing I really like is the care taken to describe the Stafford and Van Heusen ties in much more detail, something not found online. In fact the Spring & Summer ’09 catalog only features those two brands.
Conclusion
So there you have it! JCPenney has a decent variety of ties for everyday wear, both in and out of the office.
